Belgrade Centre railway station, railway station in Belgrade, Serbia
Belgrade Centre railway station is a modern station building located in the Savski Venac district that opened in 2023 and sits at ground level. The facility has ten tracks, several of which have platforms connected by a subway corridor, along with ticket offices, toilets, and ATMs for travelers.
Belgrade's original main station was built in the 19th century and served the city for many years before plans began for a new center. The current building replaced the old station, which closed in 2018 to make way for a more modern and larger facility.
This station serves as a central meeting point where people from different parts of Belgrade pass through daily. It is a place where the everyday rhythm of the city comes to life, connecting residents and visitors through the shared experience of travel.
The station is easy to reach by taxi or public transportation and sits on the south side of the city. Ticket offices are open daily from early morning until late evening and accept credit cards, while several bus lines including 17, 38L, 41A, and 600 stop nearby.
The station building opened in 2023 after a lengthy incomplete construction phase marked by delays from lack of funding and technical difficulties spanning decades. The complex is part of a larger development project intended to include commercial buildings, parking areas, and a freight center.
