Special Nature Reserve Uvac

The Uvac Reserve encompasses 75 square kilometers of limestone cliffs forming deep canyons with steep walls reaching heights of 300 meters.

The protected area, established in 1971, played a central role in preventing the extinction of griffon vultures in Serbia during the late 20th century.

Local communities maintain traditional practices of sustainable agriculture within designated zones of the reserve, supporting both conservation and economic activities.

Visitors can access the reserve through guided boat tours departing from the visitor center, with advance reservations required during summer months from June to September.

The Uvac River creates exceptional meanders through the limestone canyon, forming a continuous series of curves that resemble the letter M from above.
