The Vozarev Cross stands at a prominent location in the Vračar district, constructed of red artificial stone and decorated with religious icons.
Belgrade bookseller Gligorije Vozarević erected the original wooden cross in 1847, marking it as the first public monument in the city of Belgrade.
The monument holds deep religious significance within the Serbian Orthodox tradition and represents the historical connection between faith and national identity.
The surrounding neighborhood takes its name Crveni Krst, meaning Red Cross, from this monument which serves as a central reference point.
The original wooden structure displayed two specific icons: the Holy Trinity and Saint George, with an inscription dedicated to God and the people.
