Vozarev Cross

The Vozarev Cross is a protected religious monument made of red artificial stone with carved religious icons, located in the Vračar district. The structure stands at a central location and has defined the neighborhood's character.

A bookseller named Gligorije Vozarević built the first wooden cross in 1847, making it Belgrade's first public monument. The original was later replaced by the stone structure that stands today.

The cross has become a natural reference point in the neighborhood, where the street name and local identity connect to this religious symbol. Residents use the location as a gathering place and landmark in daily conversation.

The monument sits openly in the street and is accessible at any time without admission fees. The location is well-lit in the evening and easy to find since locals refer to it frequently.

The original wooden version displayed two specific holy images: the Holy Trinity and Saint George with an inscription dedicated to God and the people. These details remain part of the story that defines the monument.
