The mountain reaches an elevation of 1,155 meters with its peak Bandera standing tall in the central region of Serbia.
The Belgrade Observatory established its astronomical facility on Vidojevica mountain in 2011, starting with the installation of the Nedeljković telescope.
The observatory named its main telescope Milanković to honor the Serbian geophysicist who directed the Belgrade Observatory from 1948 to 1951.
The mountain location offers minimal light pollution at 1,150 meters altitude, making it an excellent site for astronomical observations.
The facility houses a 1.4-meter robotic telescope that operates automatically to conduct research and gather astronomical data.
