Vidojevica

Vidojevica is a mountain location hosting an astronomical station near Prokuplje in central Serbia. The site sits at approximately 1,155 meters elevation with facilities designed for detailed sky observation and research.

The Belgrade Observatory established its astronomical facility on the mountain in the early 2010s. The first telescope equipment arrived shortly after, marking the beginning of regular sky observations and research at this location.

The main telescope carries the name of a Serbian geophysicist who once directed the Belgrade Observatory. This naming choice reflects respect for an important figure in the country's scientific past.

The high elevation keeps light pollution low, allowing for clear views of the night sky. Visitors should expect cooler temperatures and bring appropriate clothing for mountain conditions.

The facility operates a 1.4-meter telescope that moves on its own to automatically gather data throughout the night. This robotic equipment can monitor the sky without human control and continuously provides research data.
