Uvac Monastery, Serbian Orthodox monastery in Čajetina Municipality, Serbia
The monastery stands in a deep canyon of the Uvac River, surrounded by limestone cliffs and dense forests within the Uvac Special Nature Reserve.
Built in the 13th century as a response to religious changes, the monastery served as an endowment of the Nemanjic dynasty until its destruction in the 18th century.
The monastery functions as a center for Orthodox worship, with regular religious services conducted by a resident brotherhood since its reopening in 1999.
The site requires navigating a 4-kilometer dirt road that descends 500 meters, making access more suitable for walking or using specialized vehicles.
The monastery complex lies between two municipalities, offering views of the Uvac River canyon and its system of interconnected caves spanning 6,185 meters.
