Krasnoye Selo

Krasnoye Selo is a city municipality in southwestern Saint Petersburg, located on the Duderhof Heights. The area combines residential neighborhoods with manufacturing plants and industrial buildings that shape its layout.

The settlement started in 1730 when three villages merged and later became a military training ground and summer residence for Russian rulers. This dual purpose shaped how the place developed over time.

The Troitskaya Church from the 18th century shapes the spiritual identity of this place and reflects how the local community has maintained its heritage. Visitors can still experience the religious role this building plays in the town's life.

Aviation pioneer Alexander Mozhaysky conducted early flying experiments here in 1884, demonstrating one of the first powered aircraft in the world. The experiments marked an important moment in the race to achieve controlled flight.
