Spassk-Dalny, Industrial town in Primorsky Krai, Russia
Spassk-Dalny is an industrial town in Primorsky Krai located on the Prikhankayskaya Flatland near Khanka Lake. The settlement spreads across a significant area at roughly 100 meters elevation in this flat, sparsely populated landscape.
The town began as the village of Spasskoye in 1886 when settlers from Ukraine and western Russia arrived in the area. It gained town status in 1917 during the Russian Civil War.
The town maintains a local museum and Aurora cinema, featuring over twenty monuments dedicated to Civil War and World War II historical events.
The town connects to major Russian cities via the Trans-Siberian Railway station and sits near the M60 motorway for regional travel. Visitors can arrive by train and explore the surrounding flatland area.
A cement factory has operated here since 1907, making use of local limestone, clay, and construction sand deposits. This early industrial activity continues to shape the local economy and landscape.
