Podolsky District, Municipal district in Moscow Oblast, Russia.
Podolsky District is a municipal district in southwestern Moscow Oblast that encompasses a largely rural territory. The area consists of numerous villages and small communities spread across the region.
The district was established as an administrative entity in 1929 and maintained this status until the early 2010s. Its territory was eventually consolidated into the urban Podolsk area in 2015.
The area maintains rural traditions that reflect the wider character of the Moscow region. Local communities are built around agricultural heritage and established settlement patterns.
The district is best reached by car since settlements are scattered throughout the region. It helps to plan which villages you want to visit in advance, as public transport coverage is limited.
The sculptor Matvei Chizhov was born in 1838 in the village of Pudov, which was part of this area. This rural birthplace contributed an important figure to Russian art.
