Kirovske Raion extends across 1,208 square kilometers of land, featuring foothills in the south and Crimean steppe landscapes in the north.
The district originated in 1784 as part of the Crimean Khanate, with its center İslâm Terek later becoming Kirovske under Soviet administration in 1944.
The region maintains fifteen local councils, including the historical town of Stary Krym, each contributing to the district's administrative and social structure.
The North Crimean Canal flows through the territory, providing water resources from the Dnieper River to support local agriculture and settlements.
The district contains a military air base that served Soviet Naval Aviation and Air Defense Forces during the Cold War period.
