Shchyolkovsky District

Shchyolkovsky District is an administrative division northeast of Moscow in Moscow Oblast. The territory includes many rural villages and several settlements centered around the city of Shchyolkovo.

The district underwent administrative reorganization in 2019, transforming from a municipal structure into separate administrative units. This change established the current configuration with Shchyolkovo serving as the main administrative center.

The districts maintain connections with international partner cities, including Celje in Slovenia, Hemer in Germany, and multiple municipalities across Eastern Europe.

The area is accessible by commuter trains that depart regularly from Moscow Yaroslavsky Station. Journey times to the center of Shchyolkovo typically take around one hour.

The districts contain 92 rural localities, 4 urban settlements, and 1 main town, supporting a combined population exceeding 217,000 inhabitants.
