Akkem, Glacial lake at Mount Belukha, Russia
Lake Akkem stretches 1,350 meters in length and 610 meters in width, reaching depths of up to 15 meters at the foot of Mount Belukha.
The Akkem weather station on the northwest coast has collected climate data and supported scientific research since its establishment in 1932.
The Chapel of Archangel Michael, constructed in 2006 near the lake, stands as a memorial for climbers and rescuers in the Altai mountains.
The lake temperature maintains around 4 degrees Celsius during summer, and access requires a one to three-day trek from the village of Tungur.
The lake's water changes color from gray-white to dark blue due to sediments from the Akkem glacier, creating varying reflections of the surrounding peaks.
