Maikop kurgan, Bronze Age burial mound in Maykop, Russia.
The earth structure rises 10 meters high with a 200-meter circumference, containing multiple burial chambers beneath its surface.
Archaeological excavations in 1897 by Nikolay Veselovsky revealed a main burial chamber with a priest-king and two additional female burials from 3700-3100 BCE.
The burial contained numerous metal artifacts including gold and silver bull figurines, representing advanced metallurgical skills of the Northern Caucasus Bronze Age societies.
The artifacts recovered from the kurgan are now stored and displayed at the State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg for research and public viewing.
The burial structure contained over 7,000 gold objects and 1,000 silver items, making it one of the most metal-rich Bronze Age discoveries.
