Bolshoy Tkhach Nature Park

Bolshoy Tkhach Nature Park is a protected reserve in the Republic of Adygea that covers mountain slopes and river valleys in the northern Caucasus region. The terrain includes a high plateau with multiple water sources and is cut by deep canyons that support rare alpine ecosystems.

The protected area was officially established in 1997 through a presidential decree from the Republic of Adygea. This designation marked an important step in safeguarding this ecologically valuable mountain region from human damage.

The territory contains archaeological evidence of human settlements that reveal the historical connection between local communities and these mountain lands.

The park offers marked trails through different landscapes leading to rock formations and natural landmarks along the valley. Proper footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are essential since mountain conditions change quickly.

The region is the source of several important rivers including Bolshoy Sakhray and Maly Sakhray that originate from the plateau. These water sources feed the entire watershed and make this mountain slope a critical point for regional hydrology.
