Aibga 1, Mountain summit in Krasnaya Polyana, Russia.
Aibga 1 is a mountain summit located in the Western Caucasus near the Rosa Khutor resort area. The peak sits within a ridge system that features multiple prominent elevations and serves as a destination for hikers exploring the region.
The area takes its name from a nomadic people who inhabited this region of the North Caucasus in earlier times. The connection to local history remains visible today in the geographic names and surnames found throughout the region.
The ridge became internationally recognized when the Rosa Khutor Alpine Resort opened in 2011 for the 2014 Winter Olympics competitions.
The ascent is steep and demands hiking experience and good physical fitness. Visitors should start early, bring proper footwear, and watch for rapidly changing mountain weather conditions.
The ridge system contains four distinct peaks: Aibga I at 2391 meters, Aibga II at 2450 meters, Aibga III at 2462 meters, and Black Pyramid.
