Rosa Khutor Alpine Resort, Alpine ski resort in Krasnaya Polyana, Russia.
Rosa Khutor Alpine Resort is a ski resort in Krasnaya Polyana, Krasnodar Krai, that spans multiple elevation levels across the Western Caucasus range. The resort includes a valley floor with hotels and service facilities, and wide ski runs connected by a network of gondolas and chairlifts.
Construction began in 2003 and was completed in time for the 2014 Winter Olympics, when this location hosted the alpine skiing competitions. Since then, the resort has remained a year-round destination for winter and summer tourism.
The base village sits along the Mzymta River, where shops and restaurants offer local dishes and international cuisine along the waterfront promenade. Visitors often move between different elevations, experiencing changing climatic conditions from the mild valley floor to the snowy mountain zone.
The main season for winter sports runs from December through April, with many visitors arriving during January and February. During summer months, hiking trails and mountain lifts open, keeping the site accessible outside snow season.
The resort features a vertical drop of roughly 1380 meters (4528 feet) from valley to summit, making it one of the most vertical ski areas in Eastern Europe. Snowmaking covers around 100 hectares (247 acres) of slopes, ensuring consistent snow conditions throughout the season.
