Богоявленский Аланский женский монастырь, Orthodox monastery in Alagirsky District, Russia
The Epiphany Alanian Convent is an Orthodox monastery located about 2 kilometers south of Alagir city in the mountainous North Ossetia-Alania Republic. The grounds include a rehabilitation center for children, a pilgrim house, workshops, and facilities where the sisters produce herbal teas from mountain plants.
The monastery began as an Orthodox sisterhood in May 2002 and received official recognition from the Holy Synod in December 2004. This institutional approval allowed the young community to expand its activities and develop into a full convent.
The monastery published an Orthodox prayer book in the Ossetian language to serve the local community. This effort reflects how the sisters work to keep faith practices connected to the region's own cultural language.
The monastery sits in a mountainous area south of Alagir and welcomes visitors to explore its grounds and facilities. Overnight stays are available in the pilgrim house, making it possible to spend more time experiencing the place.
In 2006, the monastery held a mass baptism ceremony where more than one thousand people were baptized in a single day at the monastery lake. This remarkable event remains a striking memory of the spiritual energy the young community brought to the region.
