Bolshaya Oreshnaya Cave

Bolshaya Oreshnaya is an extensive cave system in the Krasnoyarsk region that stretches through different rock layers and contains numerous passages, halls, and grottos. The network descends to significant depths and offers a varied underground landscape.

The cave system became a focus for geological research during the Soviet period, leading to extensive mapping and detailed documentation. This intensive study made the site important for understanding the region's underground geology.

Visitors have left small clay figures in the cave chambers over time, creating an informal underground collection of handmade art. This practice shows how people use the space as a place for creative expression.

Access is via an asphalt road connecting from the Krasnoyarsk-Minusinsk highway. The cave entrance is reachable through the existing road network without difficulty.

The cave maintains stable temperatures year-round, providing natural shelter from extreme Siberian weather swings. This temperature consistency is a physical feature that sets the place apart.
