The Kursk State Regional Museum of Archaeology contains more than 180,000 items, including beads, china ware, numismatics, arms, rare books, paintings, furniture, and costumes.
The museum opened its doors on January 31, 1905, following its establishment in 1903 under the title recognizing Nikolai II's visit to Kursk in 1902.
The museum organizes exhibitions in three main departments focusing on nature, pre-revolutionary history, and Soviet society, displaying artifacts from various regions across Russia.
The museum facility accommodates visitors with disabilities and employs 60 staff members, including 21 curators who maintain the extensive collection of historical items.
Among the total collection of 181,057 items, approximately 150,305 pieces are classified as rare, representing the archaeological heritage of the Kursk region.
