The Pokrovskaya Tower rises 52 meters high on the banks of the Velikaya River, featuring thick stone walls and military architecture from 1500.
During the 1581 siege by Polish King Stefan Batory's forces, the tower became a critical battleground where local defenders forced enemy troops to surrender.
The tower forms part of the Pokrovsky Complex, which includes religious structures that represent the intersection of military defense and spiritual protection.
Visitors can explore multiple floors of the tower while learning about medieval defense systems and examining the original stone construction methods.
The structure contained specialized chambers for acoustic warriors who detected underground enemy tunneling attempts during medieval sieges.
