Сямібратняе гарадзішча

Syamibratnyae Gorodishche is an ancient fortified settlement perched on a hilltop near the Black Sea coast in Krasnodar Krai. The site spreads across several hectares and still shows remains of defensive walls and ditches from antiquity.

The settlement began in the 6th century BCE and remained inhabited until the 1st century CE. It served as a key location for the Bosporan Kingdom, helping to control trade routes along the coast.

The excavated items reveal that this was a trading hub connected to ancient Greek settlements along the Black Sea. People here exchanged goods and absorbed influences from distant regions, which you can see reflected in the objects found.

The site is best visited between spring and autumn, when guided tours operate and weather is mild. Bring sturdy shoes and water with you, as the terrain is hilly and offers little shade during the day.

Seven burial mounds surrounding the settlement hold graves of nobility, revealing a strict social order existed here. These mounds are among the most important finds, offering clues about the power held by local elites.
