The Old English Court

The Old English Court is a stone mansion built in the 16th century with white walls and wooden roofs, located near the Kremlin's eastern side. The building contains several rooms and halls that show how wealthy merchants lived and conducted their business during that era.

Ivan the Terrible granted this building to English merchants in 1556, establishing the first English trading base in Russia. The site marks the beginning of direct relations between the two nations, making it a landmark in their early contact.
