Кумухская джума-мечеть

The Kumukh Juma Mosque is a rectangular stone building with its original dome and rows of cells separated by stone pillars throughout the interior. The space can hold about 1000 worshippers and remains in active use for daily prayers.

This mosque was built in 778-779 during the Arab expansion and ranks among the earliest Islamic structures on Russian Federation territory. The building underwent major modifications over the following centuries as the community maintained its importance.
