The Pushkin Museum buildings include grand galleries, exhibition spaces, and educational facilities spread across multiple structures near the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour.
Founded in 1912 by Ivan Tsvetaev, the museum complex originated from Moscow University's Cabinet of Fine Arts and received official support from Tsar Nicholas II.
The buildings contain over 700,000 artworks, including European paintings, archaeological artifacts, ancient sculptures, and an extensive collection of historical currencies.
The museum buildings maintain different operating schedules, with the main structure opening Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00, accessible via Kropotkinskaya metro station.
The museum's architecture combines classical temple design with innovative engineering solutions by Roman Klein and Vladimir Shukhov, featuring an Ionic colonnade entrance.
