Старый Игерман, Residential district in northern Izhevsk, Russia.
Stary Igerman is a residential neighborhood that stretches along the right bank of the Igermanka River north of central Izhevsk. The settlement consists of houses and private lots spread across relatively flat terrain with scattered gardens and forested patches.
The settlement began as an Udmurt village in the first half of the 1700s, well before the Izhevsk factory was constructed. Russian settlers arrived in the 1850s, gradually changing the population makeup of the area.
The neighborhood preserves its rural character through traditional wooden houses and gardens that blend Udmurt and Russian building styles. As you move through the streets, older structures stand near newer homes, revealing how the area has developed while holding onto its heritage.
The area is connected to the rest of the city by bus routes and can be reached fairly easily. Keep in mind that infrastructure is limited, as there is no centralized water supply, sewage system, or high-speed internet service available.
The neighborhood displays an interesting blend of old village structures and modern cottage developments that were added in the early 2000s. This expansion created a visible division between the historic center and the newer residential areas.
