Tayma, Archaeological site in Tabuk Province, Saudi Arabia.

Located at the edge of the Nafud desert, Tayma features a central well named Bir Hadaj measuring 18 meters in diameter surrounded by palm gardens.

The oasis gained significance during the reign of Neo-Babylonian king Nabonidus, who established residence there from 556 to 539 BCE while expanding power into Arabia.

Archaeological findings reveal local deities through Aramaic inscriptions from the 5th century BCE, when Tayma belonged to the Dedanite kingdom of northern Arabia.

The archaeological area spans 950 hectares, with one-third beneath the modern town, offering access to ancient walls and architectural remains for research purposes.

The Bir Haddaj well, dating to the 6th century BCE during Babylonian occupation, received four pumps in 1953 from King Saud to support local agriculture.
