Jeddah Flagpole, Monumental flagpole in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
The Jeddah Flagpole is a towering steel structure that rises 171 meters above the surrounding area, flying the Saudi Arabian flag from its apex. The site features landscaped grounds and is located along the North Corniche waterfront.
The structure was completed and unveiled on September 23, 2014, during the kingdom's National Day celebrations. It held the title of world's tallest flagpole until 2021, when another monument claimed the record.
The flagpole rises from King Abdullah Square, serving as a gathering place where people come to reflect on national pride. Visitors from different backgrounds often pause here to take in the sight of the massive Saudi flag overhead.
The site is easily accessible from the North Corniche area and offers ample parking for visitors. The landscaped grounds provide shaded spots and rest areas as you explore the location.
The structure relies on three specialized damping systems to remain stable during strong winds. These systems absorb vibrations at different frequencies, allowing the tall structure to withstand powerful gusts safely.
