Filmstaden Vällingby, Multiplex cinema in Vällingby, Sweden.
Filmstaden Vällingby is a multiplex cinema with five screens and 655 seats total, equipped with modern projection and sound systems. The building sits in the heart of Vällingby, a suburban shopping and cultural center that developed in the 1950s.
The cinema opened in 1956 as part of the new suburban center of Vällingby, designed by architects Backström & Reinius. It was built to serve the leisure needs of the expanding community that was taking shape around it.
People come here to watch films from around the world and from Swedish studios, making it a gathering place for the neighborhood. The screenings reflect what audiences in this part of Stockholm enjoy and how they spend their leisure time.
The cinema is located at Vällingby Torg 39 and offers wheelchair access throughout the building with multiple daily showtimes. The venue is well connected by public transport and parking is readily available in and around the shopping center.
During the 2004 renovation, photographs of film actors were screen-printed onto mirrored walls and lit by hidden light fixtures. This creates a visual effect that flows through the cinema's corridors, bringing cinema history into the building itself.
