Moderna museet Sculpturepark

The sculpture park at Moderna Museet displays large-scale works by international artists spread across natural green spaces on Skeppsholmen. Visitors encounter pieces in different styles and materials arranged throughout landscaped grounds with water views.

The project emerged in 1958 alongside the founding of Moderna Museet, establishing a new way to present modern art to the public outdoors. Over the decades it has grown through acquisitions and donations from artists and collectors.

The collection reflects how contemporary sculpture can occupy public space and invite people to encounter art as part of their daily surroundings. Works here encourage different ways of looking and moving through outdoor settings.

Access is free and available year-round, with paths connecting the sculptures and resting spots along the way. Wear comfortable shoes since you will be walking across natural grounds and discovering works takes time.

One of the main attractions was created by two prominent French artists and originally made for an international exhibition in North America. The work was later relocated to Stockholm where it remains a key part of the collection.
