Stockholm Toy Museum

The Stockholm Toy Museum is a toy and comics museum housed in underground rock chambers beneath Skeppsholmen island. It displays a vast collection including model cars, teddy bears, comic books, action figures, and collectible dolls.

The museum opened in 2017 after relocating from Tidö Castle to underground rock chambers called Bergrummet. This move to an unusual location gave the collection permanent public access in a distinctive setting.

The museum displays toys from different times and cultures, showing how play and collecting habits have changed across generations. The exhibits reveal the role toys have played in daily life across different countries and communities.

The location sits beneath Skeppsholmen island and is reached through a maze of underground passages that feel unusual at first but are easy to navigate. Audio guides and interactive quizzes help visitors explore the collection at their own pace.

The museum is housed in a decommissioned civil defense bunker built during the Cold War, which now provides an extraordinary setting for the historical collection. This underground shelter gives the visit an unexpected and distinctive character.
