Blanch's Café, Historical café in Hamngatan, Stockholm, Sweden
The interior featured high ceilings with crystal chandeliers, plush carpets, white tablecloths, and large windows overlooking Kungsträdgården and Hamngatan streets.
Theodore Blanch, born in Berlin in 1835, established this café in 1868 after successfully managing Operakällaren and Jönköpings stadshotell.
The establishment introduced daily orchestra performances and maintained a collection of international newspapers for patrons to read while dining.
The building stood at the intersection of Hamngatan and Kungsträdgården until 1965, when it was replaced by the Sverigehuset complex.
In 1878, this café became one of the first establishments in Stockholm to implement electric lighting systems.
