Dania park, Waterfront park in Malmö, Sweden
Dania Park is a waterfront park in Malmö that stretches along the Öresund strait, offering terraces, platforms, and balconies with views across the water between Sweden and Denmark. Three tilted concrete planes called the Scouts connect visitors to the waterfront, while the Bastion platform rises 6 meters (20 feet) above sea level.
The park was completed in 2001 and transformed a former Saab factory site into Malmö's first new park in over 50 years. This conversion marked a turning point for the city's waterfront development.
The granite walls and wooden structures serve as gathering places where locals host weddings, baptisms, and photography sessions year-round.
The park is easy to explore on foot, with the best approach being to walk from central Malmö toward the water until you discover the platforms and structures. A local map or guide can help you navigate the different areas and entrances without getting lost.
The grassy meadow called The Lawn benefits from protection against strong sea winds thanks to strategically placed rows of Sorbus trees. This creates a sheltered space despite the location's otherwise windy waterfront conditions.
