AtmosFear, Drop tower at Liseberg, Sweden.
AtmosFear is a steel drop tower rising 116 meters above Gothenburg, offering city views before the descent. The gondola falls at roughly 110 kilometers per hour and is slowed using magnetic braking at the bottom.
The structure started as an observation tower called Lisebergstornet in 1990, then was transformed into a drop ride. The conversion finished in 2011 when operations began under the AtmosFear name.
The ride represents a shift in Swedish amusement parks toward more intense experiences. Visitors come here to feel strong physical sensations that stand apart from gentler attractions in the park.
Riders must be between 140 and 195 centimeters tall to participate. The ride handles up to 600 passengers per hour with magnetic braking keeping the descent under control.
The passenger car releases from its catch mechanism at the top, exposing riders to forces around 4G during the rapid descent. This extreme acceleration is more intense than many similar rides worldwide.
