Liseberg Tower, Observation tower in Liseberg amusement park, Gothenburg, Sweden

Liseberg Tower is a 116-metre observation tower in the Liseberg amusement park in Gothenburg. From 1990 to 2010 a round glass cabin shaped like the spaceship UFO 23 carried passengers to 85 metres above ground, 125 metres above sea level, with views over the city in all directions. In May 2010 it closed for conversion into the free-fall ride Atmosfear, which opened in spring 2011.

Construction of the 116-metre tower began in the late 1980s; plans initially called for it to be taller than the Eiffel Tower. It opened in 1990 together with Spaceport Liseberg at the top of the hill inside the park. In May 2010 it closed and was rebuilt as the free-fall ride Atmosfear, which opened in spring 2011.

The ride's story began with a pre-film in a small cinema, where a mock Västnytt news report announced sensational finds at Liseberg linked to old UFO sightings over Gothenburg. Until 2000 the cabin then descended to Kaninernas land, where mechanical rabbit puppets sang a song about arriving from space in the spaceship UFO 23.

The glass cabin held passengers at 85 metres above ground, 125 metres above sea level, and rotated one to three times at varying speeds depending on visitor numbers. In July 2008, fifteen people were stuck for two hours at 48 metres when the ride stopped. The tower closed in May 2010 for conversion into the Atmosfear free-fall ride, which opened in spring 2011.

The tower was initially planned to be taller than the Eiffel Tower, but was built to 116 metres. Its glass cabin represented the spaceship UFO 23, and until 2000 the ride began with a descent to the rabbits' land, where mechanical rabbit puppets sang a song about arriving from space.
