Blåhammarfjället, Mountain lodge on Blåhammarkläppen plateau, Åre Municipality, Sweden
Blåhammarfjället is a mountain lodge on the Blåhammarkläppen plateau at approximately 1086 meters elevation, with views of the Helags and Sylarna massifs to the south and Norwegian peaks to the west. The facility offers 30 self-service beds, a fully equipped kitchen, sauna facilities, and a small shop stocking essentials for mountain activities.
The building dates back approximately one hundred years and stands as the highest-elevation facility operated by Svenska Turistföreningen in the Swedish mountains. It has served as an important destination for mountain travelers and outdoor enthusiasts throughout its existence.
The lodge serves as a meeting point for hikers and skiers traveling the established routes of the Jämtland Triangle and Sylarna Loop. It connects people moving through the western Swedish mountains on foot and on snow.
The location is remote and most accessible during summer months, though winter sports enthusiasts can reach it via ski touring routes. Visitors should plan ahead for supplies or check local options, as provisioning is limited in this mountain setting.
The site houses Sweden's only inland mountain lighthouse, positioned strategically on the plateau near the Norwegian border. This unusual feature makes it a striking navigational landmark in the alpine landscape.
