Dalheimers hus, Disability support center in Majornas, Gothenburg, Sweden.
Dalheimers hus is an eight-story building in Majornas with short-term accommodations, a daily activity center, wellness facilities, a restaurant, and conference spaces. The different services are connected within this single structure and serve various needs.
Fritz Potenz Dalheimer donated half of his estate in 1922 to Stockholm and Gothenburg to establish care homes for people with disabilities. From this gift came the building and its range of support services for those in need.
The building houses multiple disability organizations and displays 'Vårdträdet', a bronze sculpture by Lars Stocks showing a horse chestnut tree. These spaces reflect a commitment to supporting people with diverse needs.
The swimming pool requires a medical certificate, while short-term stays need approval from municipal social services. Visitors should check in advance which facilities are accessible without prior arrangements.
The restaurant Fritz is named after the building's benefactor and operates alongside a public gym and conference facilities in the complex. This makes the building a place where everyday life and specialized services are interwoven.
