Lövgärdet

Lövgärdet is a residential district in northeastern Gothenburg featuring apartment buildings, community facilities, and extensive green spaces divided across northern and southern sections. The area includes various housing types, with apartments, single-family homes, and semi-detached houses creating a mixed residential environment.

The neighborhood was built between 1970 and 1978 as part of Sweden's Million Program, which created around 3,600 apartments in various styles. Later additions in 1979 and 1982 brought single-family homes and semi-detached houses, gradually expanding the residential diversity.

The central hub from 1975 brings together a secondary school, a church, and shops in one location. This area serves as a natural meeting point where locals gather for daily activities and community life.

Public transit links the district to central Gothenburg and makes getting around straightforward. Visitors and residents can find shopping options, medical services, and schools throughout the area for everyday needs.

The district developed in distinct construction phases, with each period introducing different architectural styles and housing types across the area. This phased approach created a layered neighborhood where different generations of building styles coexist.
