Storulvån Mountain Lodge, Mountain lodge in Åre Municipality, Sweden
Storulvån Mountain Lodge sits at 730 meters (2,395 feet) elevation near the tree line and accommodates 148 guests with a restaurant offering mountain views. The building provides self-catering options, a mountain gear shop, washing machines, drying rooms, and electric vehicle charging stations.
The lodge started in 1900 as a rest stop on the route between Handöl and Sylarna. After a fire destroyed the original structure, it was rebuilt in 1989 in its current form.
The lodge is operated by the Swedish Tourist Association and serves as a gathering point for hikers exploring the surrounding trails. Visitors find themselves part of a long tradition of mountain travel that still shapes how people experience this region.
Visitors should prepare for the fact that conditions here vary significantly by season. Gathering information about hiking routes and the best time to visit beforehand helps you make the most of your stay.
During winter, visitors can reach ski slopes on Getryggen mountain using specially equipped caterpillar-tracked vehicles to access runs of varying difficulty. This winter option makes the lodge a destination for both summer hikers and winter sports enthusiasts.
