Aljaž Tower, Storm shelter tower at Mount Triglav, Slovenia
The cylindrical metal structure stands at the highest point of Slovenia, providing protection for mountaineers and serving as a triangulation point.
Jakob Aljaž purchased the Triglav summit for one florin in 1895 and commissioned the construction of the tower, completed in August of that year.
The tower represents a national symbol of Slovenia, marking the boundary between different Alpine regions and serving as a testament to mountaineering traditions.
The metal shelter includes basic amenities for emergency situations and maintains a summit register for climbers who reach the peak of Mount Triglav.
The entire tower was transported in pieces by workers who carried the materials to the summit at 2864 meters and assembled it within five hours.
