Aljažev dom v Vratih, Mountain hut at Vrata Valley in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia.
Aljažev dom v Vratih is a mountain lodge situated at 1015 meters elevation in the Vrata Valley and provides accommodation for roughly 35 people in rooms and dormitory spaces. The building contains two dining areas with around 200 seats both indoors and outdoors, running water and electricity, and serves full board meals by request.
The original wooden building was constructed in 1896 but was destroyed by an avalanche, prompting a complete rebuild at the site. The current stone structure opened on July 17, 1910, following this disaster.
The lodge bears the name of Jakob Aljaž, a Slovenian priest and composer whose work inspired mountaineers in the region. Visitors today experience this heritage when they gather here to prepare for their mountain journeys.
The lodge sits on the route to the Triglav North Face and serves as a starting point for climbs to several surrounding peaks. Visitors should expect to arrive on foot and be prepared for quick weather changes at this elevation.
From this location, visitors can clearly see the imposing North Face of Triglav and begin routes to surrounding peaks including Škrlatica and Gamsovec. This makes the site a vital starting point for climbers pursuing the region's highest objectives.
