Razor, Mountain summit in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia
Razor is a summit in the Julian Alps at 2601 meters elevation with steep slopes and exposed rock faces rising above alpine meadows. The area is shaped by fixed climbing cables and a mountain hut below that serves as a base and resting point.
A German botanist explored this summit in 1842 while studying the region's alpine plants. His visit marks one of the first documented ascents and sparked interest in this mountain area.
The mountain hut is named after a local mountaineer and shapes the location with its practical mountain building style. It serves as a meeting point where climbers share meals and rest together as part of the alpine experience.
The hike from the parking area at 640 meters to the mountain hut takes about 5 to 6 hours with a backpack. Sturdy shoes and drinking water are essential, and the path can become slippery in bad weather.
The summit has a memory book box where visitors can leave their names and thoughts. It also serves as a stamp station, and views stretch toward Triglav, the region's highest peak.
