Pope Pius X elevated the church to the status of minor basilica in 1906, marking its importance within the Catholic hierarchy in Slovenia.
The basilica maintains three separate naves and reaches a height of 17.5 meters, providing space for regular religious services and community gatherings.
The structure features Austrian architectural elements combined with classical Franciscan church interior designs, creating a distinct visual contrast.
