Logar Valley, Slovenia, Alpine valley in northern Slovenia.
Logar Valley is an alpine valley stretching roughly 9 kilometers through the Kamnik-Savinja Alps in northern Slovenia. The protected area contains steep mountain slopes, meadows, forests, traditional farmsteads, and a network of walking paths that connect different elevations.
The valley developed as an agricultural zone centered on alpine dairy farming and later transformed into a protected nature park. This shift toward conservation earned recognition for responsible management of the alpine landscape.
Wooden granaries called kašče dot the valley floor, where they have served as storage for generations and remain visible symbols of mountain life. These structures reflect how farming families adapted their buildings to the steep terrain and changing seasons.
Entry to the valley requires a daily fee during certain months, though staying overnight in the area provides extended access throughout your visit. Walking paths are most accessible from late spring through early fall when snow has melted and conditions are stable.
A 90-meter waterfall called Rinka drops at the upper end of the valley, where a viewing platform named Orlovo Gnezdo offers a direct perspective of the cascade. This platform placement gives visitors a rare vantage point to observe the full drop in action.
