Lake Završnica, Stausee in Slowenien
Lake Završnica is an artificial reservoir in the Gorenjska region created by damming the Završnica Stream. The water is clear and green, surrounded by dense forest and gentle hills, with marked walking trails, a flat 15-minute loop path, a children's playground, and a nearby cafe.
The reservoir was created by the construction of a hydroelectric plant built about 100 years ago, which was Slovenia's first public electricity generator. The development later improved access to the area through road widening and modern parking facilities.
The name Završnica comes from the Slovenian word for end, since the stream terminates here by joining the Sava Dolinka River. Today the reservoir serves as a gathering place for locals who walk, picnic, and participate in seasonal sports matches and social events held at the nearby bar.
The area is easy to reach by car thanks to a spacious parking lot that accommodates both cars and buses. The trails are flat and simple to walk, making them suitable for families with children or anyone seeking a relaxed outing.
The forests surrounding the area contain hidden remnants from World War Two, including old partisan camps and bunkers nestled into the landscape. These historical traces offer visitors interested in history a reflective experience while hiking through nature.
