Poľana

Poľana is a mountain summit in central Slovakia that rises to 1,458 meters and is covered in thick forests that open into meadows higher up. The slopes show distinct layers of vegetation as you move upward.

The mountain formed during the Tertiary period as a stratovolcano, leaving it with a deep geological past. Its designation as a protected area in 1981 has shaped its modern role.
