The Bangkok Doll Museum is a doll museum and workshop in Ratchathewi District that displays more than 400 handmade dolls representing classical Thai characters, regional costumes, and figures from different cultures. The collection fills several exhibition rooms where visitors can see the craftsmanship and attention to detail in each piece.
The museum was founded in 1957 by Khunying Thongkorn Chanthawimol, who had studied at the Ozawa Doll School in Tokyo. Her doll-making work gained international recognition at a folklore competition in Kraków in 1978.
The collection displays miniature figures of classical Thai dance drama characters dressed in costumes from different Thai regions and Europe. Visitors can appreciate how these handcrafted pieces represent stories and traditions that hold meaning in Thai society.
The museum sits near Victory Monument BTS station and is open Tuesday through Sunday with no entry fee. Allow plenty of time to view the workshop area and watch the craftspeople at work.
The venue operates as an active workshop where visitors can watch craftspeople creating dolls using traditional techniques. This working production area lets people see how these handmade pieces are actually constructed.
