Amos, Archaeological site on a headland between Amos Bay and Kumlubükü, Turkey.

Amos is an ancient city located on a headland between two coastal bays in southern Turkey. The site shows robust city walls, temple foundations, and an unexcavated theater perched on elevated terrain overlooking the sea.

The city was founded during the Hellenistic period and grew as a trading port. Inscriptions documenting rental agreements from the 3rd century BC show that organized administration and active economic life flourished here.

The settlement functioned as a busy trading port where merchants from different regions gathered. People here shared spaces for religious ceremonies and public gatherings that brought the community together.

The site is freely accessible throughout the day with no entrance fee required. Wear comfortable shoes since the ground is uneven and involves climbing up and down stairs in several areas.

Beneath the theater lie several stone chambers that reveal how advanced construction techniques were for acoustics and performance spaces. These underground rooms allowed ancients to control sound and reinforce the structure.
