Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium, Association football stadium in Kadıköy, Turkey
Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium is an association football venue in the Kadıköy district on the Asian side of Istanbul, serving as the home ground for Fenerbahçe. The venue has a capacity of around 50,000 seats and sits near the Marmara Sea with views toward the European side of the city.
The original venue opened in 1908 on a field called Papazın Çayırı and was initially leased before the club purchased it in 1933. After further renovations and expansions, it received its current name in 1998 honoring a former politician.
The stadium's name honors a Turkish prime minister from the 1940s, and today visitors see the club's yellow and blue colors displayed on flags and scarves throughout the stands. On match days, the venue transforms into a place where chants and rhythmic clapping echo across the seating sections.
The venue sits within walking distance of several ferry connections and the Kadıköy waterfront, making it well connected by public transport. On match days, arriving early helps avoid crowds and long waits at entry points.
The venue was the first in Turkey permanently acquired by a football club, marking a turning point in Turkish sports history. The site sits only a few hundred meters from the Marmara Sea shore and on clear days offers a view across to European Istanbul on the opposite coast.
