Myriandrus, Archaeological site near Iskenderun, Turkey
The remains of this ancient Phoenician port spread along the Mediterranean coast, containing structures from multiple historical periods and trading installations.
During 333 BC, the site served as a temporary camp for Alexander the Great's forces before their confrontation with Persian ruler Darius III.
The excavated artifacts reveal evidence of religious practices through discovered figurines representing deities and remnants of continuous religious ceremonies.
The archaeological site maintains regular visiting hours throughout the year, with guided tours available upon request at the entrance.
Ancient geographers referred to the entire Gulf of Alexandretta as Marandynian Bay, named after this settlement before the name shifted to Issus.
