Church of Saint Menas of Samatya, Eastern Orthodox church in Fatih district, Turkey
The Church of Saint Menas features a rectangular basilica design with three naves, measuring 20 meters long, 13 meters wide, and 9 meters high.
Built in 1833 by architect Konstantis Yolasığmazis, the church replaced a previous structure destroyed during the great fire of Samatya in 1782.
The church maintains regular Eastern Orthodox services and celebrates Saint Menas feast day on November 11 with traditional ceremonies and community gatherings.
Located on Bestekar Hakkı Sokak, the church welcomes visitors who wish to explore its interior adorned with religious icons and an ornate iconostasis.
Four ancient tombs discovered beneath the church in 1878 indicate the presence of an early Christian Martyrion from the fourth or fifth century.
