Karabaş Mustafa Ağa Mosque

Karabaş Mustafa Ağa Mosque is an Ottoman-era building in Tophane, Istanbul, featuring a square floor plan with stone and brick walls. A single dome crowns the structure, accompanied by a minaret with one balcony overlooking the surrounding neighborhood.

Founded in the 16th century by Karabaş Mustafa Bin Korkut Bey, this mosque shaped the spiritual life of the quarter for hundreds of years. The building underwent complete reconstruction in the 1950s, returning it to use after significant damage.

The mosque takes its name from its founder Karabaş Mustafa Ağa and served as a gathering place for Sufi spiritual practices over centuries. Today it remains an active worship space where visitors can observe how local communities continue to use this spiritual center.
